DCB JE Vacancy 2026: Government engineering jobs don’t come along every week, so when the Delhi Cantonment Board issued a notification for Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer positions, word spread quickly among candidates looking for civil, mechanical, and electrical opportunities.
The board published this under Advertisement No. 01/2026, and applications are now open. If you are an engineering graduate or diploma holder who has been waiting for something like this, here is what you should know before filling out the form.

ToggleThe timeline
Applications opened on 15 July 2026 and will stay open until 14 August 2026. That’s your window — both for submitting the form and for paying the application fee, since DCB has set the same closing date for both. There’s no separate grace period mentioned for fee payment, so it makes sense to treat 14 August as a hard deadline rather than pushing things to the last hour.

As for the exam itself, DCB hasn’t announced a date yet. Same goes for the admit card and result timeline — both are expected to follow “closer to the exam,” which, frankly, could mean anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months. The only reliable move here is to keep checking the official website rather than waiting for a WhatsApp forward to tell you.

How many posts, and where
The 9 vacancies are all together. In terms of numbers, but with a significant distribution by roles, with 2 Assistant Engineers (Civil), 1 Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), 5 Junior Engineers (Civil) and 1 Junior Engineer (Electrical).
Candidates of civil engineering have obviously better chances here as, this is where maximum number of vacancies is lying across, that’s seven out of nine job posts (AE+JE civil). Numbers are tighter if you’ve got a mechanical or electrical background but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth applying. Depending on the discipline’s candidate pool, fewer seats can equate to fewer candidates, which can lead to fewer applicants for this specific seat or seats.
Again: only apply for the position that you are qualified for. Again, it may sound obvious, but every recruitment cycle, candidates have been wrongly filtered out because they have not been correctly verified during the onboarding process, despite spending weeks preparing for it — after all. It’s better to work the kinks out of the system right now, than to discover the hard way.
Who’s eligible
For Assistant Engineer the degree in the appropriate engineering field from a recognized university is required. Civil and Structural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have different qualification requirements – so it is best to read the exact wording in the statement of the official PDF document – otherwise you may assume that because you studied one discipline it will automatically qualify you for the other one.
There is a little flexibility available with Junior Engineer posts; either holders of a bachelor’s or three-year diploma in the appropriate field are eligible. This is an added advantage for the particular notification as it provides an opportunity to the persons who have passed through the diploma level but do not necessarily secure job in the degree-seeking recruitment process.
Before applying, ensure that the qualification mentioned in the notification is the same to the one you hold. This is not a mistake that’s corrected later — it becomes clear when you send in your documents, which will have already been checked and, potentially, interwoven with a job interview.
Age limit
You must be at least 21 and no older than 30 as of August 14, 2026. This is the average cutoff. Age relaxation given to the candidates of reserved category has been as per the government guidelines printed in the notification for each category most commonly the age relaxation years will vary from candidate to candidate but, for instance, the age relaxation will be 10-year or 15-year for SC/ST candidates and maybe different age-limit for OBC and PwBD candidates, so check it in the notification published by the government and not assuming a fixed year of age relaxation.
Application fee
No fee for women and PWD candidates, and a fee of ₹850 for all other candidates. Recall that the government practice for recruitment exemptions is to invite no candidate to fill up the forms on the very grounds of being both SC (Scheduled Tribes) and ST (Scheduled Tribes) and of being PwBD (persons with benchmark disabilities) and women, in that order, and all exempted from paying anything at all — a fairly standard exemption structure, but worth it having been written down twice, before having to either pay for or not pay for one’s applause.
The payment methods are as usual online – Debit card, Credit card, IMPS, net banking, cash card & Mobile wallet. This is nothing out of the ordinary but if there is any problem with the transaction record later, it is worth taking a screenshot or saving the payment confirmation.
The process of selection
This is a multi-stage program that begins with a screening test, based on the prescribed syllabus. Candidates who pass these tests will go on to sit the subject knowledge test and interview.

Then there is verification of the documents, and finally a medical examination – before anyone is appointed. It is a good idea to plan for a path between “selected” and “appointed” as there’s still a significant distance between the two stages, beyond the writing tests.
How to apply in DCB JE Vacancy 2026
All transactions are done via DCB’s officially designed website only. Make sure that documents are organized before you begin, educational certificates, ID proof, a recent photo and your signature all scanned and in the format the portal will accept. As individuals attempt to “scramble” for the mid-form, they often fail to complete the form just in time for the deadline.
After completing all the details, read it before submitting it. Many would think shortcut to get in done quickly, but even if you apply near the deadline, you don’t want to make a mistake in your category or qualifications it can cause issues later on. After you have applied, download a copy of the application. It will likely be required again – for the exam and for verification – and most likely for both.
