NSPCL Recruitment 2026: NSPCL (NTPC Sail Power Company Limited) has published Advertisement No. 01/2026 and 16 vacancies in Electrical, Mechanical, Control & Instrumentation, HR, Law and IT/ERP. To be honest, it’s not a big number.
However, it is worthwhile to give it a shot if you have the right degree and grades. This type of support is not available in every position at PSU, and guess who’s behind NSPCL: it’s supported by two major names in the public sector of India, which is for the long haul.
Why This One’s Worth Paying Attention To
There are many recruitment notices, and most people ignore them without giving them a second look. This one’s a little different as it’s made by someone. NSPCL Recruitment 2026 is India’s largest power company, and SAIL is one of the oldest and largest steel companies in India.

Together, two institutions of that size are likely to establish work positions with stable, well-defined, and relatively high salaries, especially when compared to many private sector opportunities at the same level. However, this does not imply that one should apply blindly.
This time, there are only six categories of posts, and the criteria for each are quite specific: degree stream, percentage, and, at times, the specialization at the post-graduate level. If you get it wrong, then your resume will not be considered, regardless of the rest of it. Please read the eligibility section carefully before you start getting excited about applying.
Key Dates You Shouldn’t Leave to the Last Minute
If you’re looking to get a job in the government or a PSU, you probably know the drill by now the recruitment portals crash. Every cycle, invariably, around the clock call with everyone deciding to submit on the last day. It’s a couple of weeks, but don’t think that’s a reason to procrastinate.
The application process begins on 07 September 2026. The deadline is 22 September 2026, 6:00 PM. The due date for the fee is the same day. The exam date has not yet been released, and will be “as per schedule” – which means “check the website regularly”. As is customary, your admit card will appear before the exam.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Application Begins | 07 September 2026 |
| Last Date to Apply Online | 22 September 2026, 6:00 PM |
| Fee Payment Deadline | 22 September 2026 |
| Exam Date | To be announced |
| Admit Card | Released before the exam |
What It’ll Cost You to Apply
The fee structure here is pretty standard for PSU recruitment, and honestly quite reasonable. General, OBC, and EWS candidates need to pay Rs. 300. If you fall under SC, ST, or PwD categories, there’s no fee at all. And here’s something worth noting: every female candidate, regardless of which category she belongs to, is exempt from the fee entirely. That’s a nice inclusion that not every recruiter bothers with.
One thing to keep in mind: payment only happens online. There’s no offline challan option, no bank deposit slip, nothing like that. So make sure you’ve got a working debit card, credit card, or UPI ID ready before you sit down to fill the form, because getting halfway through and realizing your payment method isn’t working is a frustrating way to lose ten minutes.
The 16 Posts, Broken Down
Here’s the full vacancy split across departments, straight from the official notification:
| Post | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Sr Assistant Officer (HR) | 4 |
| Sr Assistant Officer (Law) | 1 |
| Sr Assistant Engineer (Electrical) | 4 |
| Sr Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) | 4 |
| Sr Assistant Engineer (C&I) | 2 |
| Sr Assistant Engineer (IT/ERP) | 2 |
These seats are mostly unreserved, and the remaining seats are reserved for OBC candidates according to the breakup of seats in each category as published by NSPCL. It might be a good idea to know in advance that there is no allocation for this particular round under SC or ST.
Electrical and Mechanical are tied for 2nd place with four vacancies each, followed by HR with four. As long as your background is in one of those three, your chance is slightly higher just due to the increased number of seats available, although of course, the more popular the background, the more competition.
Eligibility Criteria: Please Actually Read This Section
But every time I post something about government hiring, I’m sure I will say this again: People read the eligibility part and assume they’re eligible and then apply, only to be turned down at the verification phase. Be not that man. Spend an additional five minutes. A full-time post-graduate course in Personnel Management, Industrial Relations, or Human Resources for a period of two years or an equivalent diploma or management course is required for the HR position (Sr Assistant Officer).
An MBA with HR specialization also qualifies, provided it is from a recognized institute/university by the relevant statutory body, as does a Master’s in Social Work. The marks requirement is stringent, which is 60% according to your university’s or institute’s own norms. Electrical Engineering is looking for a B.E. or B. Tech student for the engineering positions.Electrical or Electrical & Electronics: A recognized institution with 60% marks in Tech.
Mechanical Engineering accepts B.E./B. Tech graduates Mechanical / Production streams: same 60% cutoff. The company is seeking candidates for its Control & Instrumentation position with a B.E./B. Tech in Electronics, or Control & Instrumentation specifically, IT/ERP is a little more general, and could still include graduates from Information Technology or Computer Science (as long as they fulfill the marks requirement).
How the Application Process Actually Works
Applying itself isn’t something that’s hard to do, but with a little preparation, it will save you from a lot of frustration as you fill out the form. Begin reading the whole notification and not just the summary that someone posted on the internet. So many times, rejections occur because of what’s a few pages down in an experience clause, or a certain requirement on a certain document, or something that doesn’t even appear in the shorter versions of the notice that circulate.
Then have documents scanned ahead and prepared. That includes your photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), identity proof, and education certificates, all in the format and size the portal requires. Nothing can stop momentum like completing 3/4 of a form and then finding out that the photos are too large and require re-scanning.
After entering the form itself, fill out your personal information, educational information, and categories sections, one by one. Read the questions in the education section carefully, as it may cause problems when verifying your documents later on, or otherwise you might miss a mark in the degree name or marks percentage, which would not be possible to fix once submitted.
For categories that have an application fee, it can be paid online via the payment gateway provided. Then, before you hit the final submit (this is a very important step), do a preview. Review all the fields one by one. After submission, no corrections are generally accepted, and this is your last real chance for corrections.

Should You Apply?
If your skills match up with any of these 6 roles, it’s worth applying. This is not a sham opportunity with inflated fees, no support, and a clear-to-follow process on paper. The number of vacancies is not huge, and therefore there’s strong competition, but then again, it’s a fact of life in most PSU recruitment cycles these days.
Disclaimer: The difference between those who qualify and those who don’t is always the raw merit; it’s preparation. Organize your paperwork ahead of time. Do not use summaries to read the notification; read it properly. Don’t pay the fee at the end of the day! Those three things seem like too little and far too little to matter, but more often than not, the problems with those eligibility requirements are the three things.
